Belgian Malinois Breed Information

Often used as K-9 dogs in police forces, the Belgian Malinois is a Belgian Shepherd Dog that is known for its high intelligence and great athletic body. Originating in Belgium, the Belgian Malinois is very similar in its appearance to the German shepherd in both temperament and physical appearance.  Breeders state that many puppies for sale are often picked out by those looking for German shepherds, these two canines serve almost the same purpose. They are easy to maintain dogs since it has few grooming needs and maintains good health on an average.  The name and the history of this sheep dog is closely related to its country of origin. Belgian Malinois puppies for sale comes from Belgium. Its name comes from one of the Belgian cities, called Malinois. This breed was recognized by the AKC in 1959 and till this day the breed is listed among rare dog breeds in America. However, at Belgium these dogs are very popular. They are still used as shepherd dogs. They serve the police and airports as sniffers, they can also be used as service dogs, search and rescue dogs. They can be trained for obedience to a very high degree. This breed is pretty rare in America. No use to look for puppies in the pet stores. It is very unlikely, they would be pure blood. They are eager to please and are very trainable. These dogs make great guardian dogs, as they have strong inborn protective instincts. These dogs need strong human guidance, lest they get bossy and overly protective of their human family. The appearance of this dog is described, as square. It has a large head and the muzzle equals the head in length. The eyes and lips are black. The eyes are brown. The coat is short, but it has two layers, so the dog is well fitted to live outdoors. Mahogany to black and fawn to red, are the main colors of these dogs. The hair may have black points. The height of Belgian Malinois  may range between 22-26 inches, and the weight may vary, reaching up to 65 pounds.
