Standard Short Jack Russell Terrier
Breed Information
The standard for the Short Jack Russell Terrier is for the dog to have Sturdy, balanced terrier. These short legged Jack Russells have a body length slightly longer than length of leg. Length should not exceed function. Straight back, level, with high tail set carried erect. The Shorty Jack chest should be spanned by two hands behind the shoulder blades. Most standards require the Short Jack Russell to have a chest that is deep rather than wide, with good clearance and the brisket located at the height mid-way between the ground and the withers. The rear of the Shorty Jack should be well put together with strong muscle and good angulation. The Shorty Jack Russells should also have well laid back shoulder. Short Jack Russell Terrier puppies should also have a body that is strong boned with powerful jaws and strong cheek muscles. The Shorty Jacks should also have dark almond-shaped eyes, pigmented eye rims, dark black pigment on nose. The Short Jack Russell MUST not be prominent and eyelids should fit closely.
